Cheyne Sorensen CFA®
Director of Research & Investments
Cheyne Sorensen graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Immediately after graduating he started with a small investment firm in Lake Oswego Oregon where he learned the basics of financial markets. While there he passed the Uniform Securities Law Exam (Series 65) and became a licensed Investment Advisors. Four years later Cheyne moved to a larger investment firm that focused on individual stock and bond research. It was during this time that he became a Chartered Financial Analysis Charterholder (CFA®). After about six years he moved to the Canadian division of a global asset manager as an Investment Counsellor. Here, Cheyne was one of the few team members pioneering the move into Canada. He helped to build the training program for future investment counsellors and to refine internal procedures for Canadian clients. About three years later Cheyne moved to Kimsa Asset Management, LLC. as the Director of Research & Investments. At Kimsa, Cheyne is responsible for building equity and fixed income portfolios, conducting due diligence on specific investment vehicles and strategies, drafting investment philosophy, as well as finalizing client investment policy statement recommendations.
On a personal note, Cheyne enjoys cycling, surfing, and ballroom dancing. Cheyne and his wife, Ashley, met ballroom dancing and continue to enjoy everything from Salsa to West Coast Swing. Cheyne and Ashley currently reside in the San Luis Obispo area of California and have two sons, Adric and Hollis. Adric was born in May of 2019, but he sadly passed away two months later. Hollis was born in May of 2021 and continues to give his parents a run for their money.
